Why some men prefer to sleep with sex dolls?

Some men would rather sleep with inanimate objects than with real women. According to the demand, the sex doll industry and the choice of sex dolls have been increasing over the past decade. There are now not only sex dolls for women, but also dolls that look so incredibly realistic that they have become a surrogate for the deceased wife or a steady girlfriend for many men around the world.

This means that a woman's mouth, hands, breasts, legs and buttocks are sculpted, cloned and sold while customers are told that these dolls are better than real women. But is it actually a good idea to simply replace humans with dolls?

dr Peter Kanaris is Medical Director of the Mental Health Services Sex Diagnostics Program in Smithtown, New York. In an interview with Broadly, Kanaris explains that there's a difference between having sex with a doll and having sex with another human being because "[the doll] doesn't give you any feedback, either through movements or through a personal bond."

Rather, sex dolls offer "an opportunity to project your own feelings onto the doll," says Kanaris. It's similar to having a sexual relationship with an inanimate object, he says. This "fantasy play" is only limited by your imagination . Kanaris also emphasizes how important sexual and intimate relationships are to people. "After our basic needs like eating, drinking and breathing, fulfilling our sex drive and wanting human contact are the strongest human needs," he says.

While most people might think it's better to form a relationship with someone who can think and speak, Kanaris says there are a variety of psychological reasons why people might prefer to sleep with a rubber doll. These include: “The lack of access to others, shyness or social fears, lack of experience and inhibitions. Or maybe they have a partner who doesn't share certain sexual preferences."

"Sex and intimacy play an important role throughout our lives," says Kanaris, noting that social isolation can have a devastating effect on people's mental and physical health as they age "[Have] people who don't have a life partner to fall back on."

“People whose partners have died or lost their partner through divorce or separation, or people with disabilities who may have difficulty finding a partner could benefit from such a doll. Being able to express yourself sexually and not feeling alone can be a relief and alleviate feelings of isolation," he says.

On the other hand, completely replacing your social contact with rubber dolls isn't a very good idea—at least not yet. "People who develop long-term relationships with their dolls to avoid human interaction run the risk of depriving themselves of the experience of interpersonal relationships," says Kanaris makes interacting even more realistically with humanoid robots will be harder to answer."
